Expedition Medicine Life Support (EMLS)
The Expedition Medicine Life Support (EMLS) program is designed to teach the fundamental skills of providing health care in remote areas to medical professional and outdoor and adventure enthusiasts alike. The Academy of Extreme Environment Medicine provide the Expedition Medicine Life Support (EMLS) curriculum to approved training providers through a licensing agreement (see below).
EMLS-P and EMLS-R
Based on a four day program the EMLS is available for anyone who works in remote or extreme environments. There are two certification levels (EMLS-P and EMLS-R).
2 days = EMLS-R
4 days = EMLS-P
On completion of this course candidates are awarded either the EMLS-R or the EMLS-P
EMLS-R
The EMLS-R program is a short certification for people who work in remote areas. It introduces the fundamental skills required by first aiders, responders and rescue personal to assist medical professionals as a competent member of an expedition medical team.
EMLS-P
The EMLS-P program is a four-day program aimed to introduce the fundamental skills of expedition medicine to people working in remote and extreme environments while building their ability to operate as a competent member of an expedition medical team.

The Academy of Extreme Environment Medicine offer the Expedition Medicine Life Support (EMLS) curriculum to approved training providers through a licensing agreement.

Licensees are approved to run this training at their discretion. Licensees may charge a fee for hosting the EMLS course. Academy of Extreme Environment Medicine do not charge fees to the licensee associated with running the training in any way however the Academy charge a certification fee.
Certificates and Transcripts will be issued by the Academy at the request of the licensee at the completion of the training. A flat rate of $95.00 is charged per certificate issued by the Academy. The Academy will send these certificates directly to the licensee. Licensees are not permitted to issue EMLS certificates in any form.
It is a requirement that licensees use the EMLS course resources and training plan that the Academy provides, however licensees can add optional industry-relevant content to their course at their discretion.
